What I've Been Watching

I have been eagerly awaiting The Art of Sarah (Netflix) and, while it didn’t quite live up to my expectations, I had a good time watching this show.

The Art of Sarah is a mystery box thriller that features a delicious performance from Shin Hae Sun. If we ever needed reminding what a powerful actor she is (and we probably didn’t), this is it.

If you are looking for a cute, zero angst rom com, Spring Fever (Prime) might be for you. It's endearing and fun and is grounded by more serious issues (although none are explored in any real depth). Spring Fever also knows its audience - cue lots of Ahn Bo Hyun appreciation. I enjoyed it.

I started How Dare You this week and I absolutely love this show. It manages to balance comedy and drama in such a compelling way and I love the pairing of Wang Chu Ran and Ryan Cheng. They are both brilliant in this drama.

I continued Unveil Jadewind (Netflix) this week and am very much enjoying this show. I am not, however, completely hooked… yet.

I am loving The King’s Affection (Netflix). Tonally it is all over the place – broad comedy one minute, high stakes drama the next. However, the show manages its tones thanks to its extremely impressive cast (Rowoon and Park Eun Bin are superb).

I finished Speed and Love (Viki) this week. I started for He Yu and I stayed for He Yu. This is one of those dramas where you objectively understand that the writing and plot are not all that great, but find yourself completely addicted at the same time.

Finally, I accidentally started Single's Inferno (Netflix) season five this week. I wasn’t going to go down this rabbit hole but, no surprises, I am hooked. The drama (and there is a lot of drama this season) is very entertaining.
