What I've Been Watching

What I've Been Watching · 24. July 2026
Life has intruded on my drama watching this past week and, as a result, I am seriously behind. The struggle is real 😉 However, I did start and finish The East Palace (Netflix). I very much enjoyed this horror inflected, historical action/drama which, over the course of eight episodes, successfully combines shamanism and traditional Korean folklore with palace politics and power grabs. I’ll admit, as a horror girlie, I came for the Gwi world and I loved how it was brought to life. Click...

First, an apology. I have lost all critical reasoning when it comes to Love For You (Viki). Seriously, this show could send Song Wei Long and Zhang Jing Yi’s characters to the moon and I would fail to notice any plot holes. I am just having too much fun with this show and how the FL is gently – and not so gently – encouraging the ML to accept his feelings. Give me 1,000 episodes… I started Blossoms of Power (Viki) this week and am really enjoying this reverse haram identity swap drama....

Love For You… hello my new obsession (on Viki)! I am really enjoying this show (although what is it with all these sibling adjacent cdramas???). Zhang Jing Yi fan is such a compelling actor and I am always seated for a Song Wei Long performance. What’s even better is that the show (so far) is really well paced. 11 episodes in and we have already moved through childhood (which was actually pretty tough to watch) and adolescence (which had some v cute moments). I can’t wait for what happens...

I continue to enjoy See You At Work Tomorrow (Prime Video). On paper, this kdrama seems like a familiar office romance. However, there is, so far, a welcome freshness to be found in the details. I also like the show's supporting characters and Seo In Guk is (of course) super charismatic. Psychological thriller, Notes from the Last Row (Netflix) features a truly stellar ensemble cast. However, this proves to be both a blessing and a curse. A blessing because it is always such a joy to watch...

The first two episodes of See You At Work Tomorrow (Prime) have me cautiously intrigued. Initially, this workplace drama did not excite me all that much. I just feel that I've seen this set up one too many times. However, at the end of episode one, events took a surprising turn and the drama drew me in. There’s potential here and, if you will allow me to be shallow for a moment, Seo In Guk looks really good! I finished My Royal Nemesis (Netflix) and, while it wasn’t perfect (the story felt...

The thing I love about The First Jasmine (Viki) is that, yes there are familiar tropes, but this show also has some really intriguing secrets to reveal – both in terms of its narrative and its character development. I am fully invested / obsessed! My Royal Nemesis (Viki) comes to an end this weekend and will likely be one of 2026’s most surprising kdramas. I had no idea that this show was going to be so entertaining! I started watching Ticket to Heaven (Viki) and immediately became obsessed...

Chinese dramas are being released thick and fast and I want to watch them all. It’s a problem – particularly as my watchlist is also significant. What's a girl to do? The First Jasmine (Viki) started this week and I am all in. To be honest, I was all in the moment I realised this cdrama featured Cheng Lei… but having watched six episodes I am now all, all in. I love a power couple and a tale of revenge. Meanwhile, both Bai Lu and Cheng Lei’s characters have intriguing backstories. I...

I think I have entered a kdrama mini slump. Nothing has really captured my attention apart from My Royal Nemesis (Netflix). Chinese dramas, meanwhile, have been killing it (girl). I am mainly watching My Royal Nemesis for the fun and physical comedy. I am also enjoying the romance in this show more and more and very much appreciate its message of female empowerment. I am loving Dazzling (Viki). Someone smart categorised this show as the love child of Speed and Love and Hometown Cha Cha Cha and...

I feel like I should be watching more currently airing kdramas. I am only watching one: My Royal Nemesis (Netflix). That feels very unusual for me. However, I am really enjoying this show. It has a really great blend of comedy and drama. Importantly, the romance is starting to work for me (I had early chemistry concerns). I just feel a little disconnected from other shows… I dropped Sold Out On You and Filing For Love and I paused We Are All Trying Here (because I had already planned to watch...

Perfect Crown (Disney) continues to give us boat loads of squeee escapism. I think I may need to study this show in depth (for, you know, science) to fully understand why it is working so well. Casting, narrative tropes, chemistry, pacing, costume design… all the elements are on point here. In short, I continue to love this drama. Meet Yourself (Viki) has been on my list for ages and so I decided to give it a watch. I had been warned that this drama was a slow burn but that my patience would...
