Love For You… hello my new obsession (on Viki)! I am really enjoying this show (although what is it with all these sibling adjacent cdramas???).
Zhang Jing Yi fan is such a compelling actor and I am always seated for a Song Wei Long performance. What’s even better is that the show (so far) is really well paced.
11 episodes in and we have already moved through childhood (which was actually pretty tough to watch) and adolescence (which had some v cute moments). I can’t wait for what happens next.
I continue to watch See You At Work Tomorrow (Prime). I was enjoying this show until episode five when the FL began to annoy/frustrate me. Ep6 was saved by the 2FL’s surfing lesson/revenge plot 😊 and some much-needed communication. However, things still feel a little flat.
I finished quite a few shows this week. I mean, a girl has to clear the decks for what is shaping up to be a very busy drama month!
Sadly, The First Jasmine lost me by the end. I was really enjoying this drama and then I wasn’t. While Viki’s release strategy did not help, my main problem was that, three quarters of the way through, I was just not that invested in the story and supporting characters. By the end, and this is no criticism of the performances, I wasn’t really even that interested in the main couple. Something has gone very wrong with a show if I am not gripped by a Chen Lei character.
I also finished Ticket to Heaven (Viki). For me, this is one of the best bls of 2026. Its story, performances, cinematography and score are all stunning. While the ending felt a little safe, sometimes a lightness of touch is necessary. A story can be less confrontational but no less powerful. [click here for my full review]
I had a blast with A Shop For Killers (Disney). This tense, action packed kdrama has such a great structure, awesome fight choreography and compelling characters that you actually care about. I also love that the writers resisted the temptation to extend the story over more episodes. Eight felt like the perfect length. I cannot wait for season two to release on 22 July!
I am so sad that I finished Love Story in the 1970s. I really enjoyed this show. It is a lovely comforting drama which also explores an interesting and challenging time in Chinese history. I came for Chen Fei Yi but fell in love with the second leads who, in my opinion, stole the show!
I am still enjoying Payback (iQIYI). There’s secret identities, revenge, romance and a mysterious person in a rabbit costume. I have no idea how this bl drama will play out!
Strong Woman Bong Soon (Netflix) is a show that I have long planned to watch but never quite got around to starting. That changed this week and I am enjoying the general silliness so far!.
I also started watching the Goblin Reunion (Viki) this week. It is very lovely to see the main four actors back together. So far, they have embarked on a road trip and are having a great time reminiscing about their time on the drama.
