It is early days, but Perfect Crown (Disney) has me seated and impatient for more episodes. A good sign.
The show’s set up is intriguing and there is real chemistry between IU and Byeon Woo Seok. I feel hopeful!
Meanwhile, I am completely obsessed with Story of Kunning Palace (Iqiyi). I started this show as something to watch when I had caught up on my currently airing dramas and then it took over.
Honestly, it has been making me late all week… just one more episode!
What I love about Story of Kunning Palace is that it has an interesting structure, compelling palace intrigue and an ensemble cast of well-developed characters.
The romance is a definite slow burn but, once it gets going, it is very much worth the wait!
Before Story of Kunning Palace took over my life, I was a little bit obsessively watching Love Beyond The Grave (Viki).
I am still enjoying it, but have definitely cooled on this show. I think this has been a case of “be careful what you wish for”.
You know when you just wish a drama would stop floofing about with side plots and focus on the main romance?
Well, this is a show that really only feels interesting when the FL and ML are on screen. The other characters feel rather one dimensional. The costumes are stunning, however.
After snagging a free trial of Apple TV, I started Pachinko this week. I found season one disappointing – both in its adaptation choices and in its structure. The editing is jarring and we spend far too much time with Solomon for my liking.
I am appreciating season two more – largely because the performances are so powerful. Kim Min Ha is incredible.
Reborn Rich (Viki) continues to be filled with delicious revengey goodness. I am enjoying how this show is structured but have not completely fallen for its charms… yet.
Finally, I love The Village Barber (Viki). You couldn’t ask for a more endearing and wholesome reality show. It’s cute and goofy and has heart to spare. So happy that the show has been renewed for a second season.
