Some shows give you exactly what you need. For me, The Perfect Crown (Disney) is that show. It may not be ground-breaking or particularly deep, but I adore the pure escapism that it provides each week. The drama's pacing is brilliant and IU and Byeon Woo Seok are delivering the chemistry!
It has been too long since I last watched a BL. So I started To My Shore (Viki). I was forewarned that this is an intense show with a toxic red flag ML but I still wasn’t quite prepared. Yikes! Nonetheless, I have become addicted!
If Wishes Could Kill (Netflix) started strong with a compelling narrative (app = curses), smart and endearing characters and squishy gore. However, for me, it lost its way at ep4. Pacing, stakes and storytelling all suffered. Still fun but it could have been special.
I am not sure if the tone of Filing For Love (Viki) is working for me. I love Shin Hye Sun and she is giving a great Mr Queen adjacent performance but I am not really very interested in anything else.
I have watched the first episode of We Are All Trying Here (Netflix) and am getting My Mister vibes (unsurprising because both shows were written by Park Hae Young). I am just not sure I am in the right mood for this show.
I really didn’t enjoy the first episodes of Sold Out On You (Netflix). This show felt too noisy, chaotic and predictable. However, there is a hint of Hometown Cha Cha Cha and predictability can be comforting?
I finally finished Love Beyond The Grave (Viki)! I loved He Si Mu and her relationship with Duan Xu was quite moving. Sadly, I wasn't invested in the sub plots and pacing became an issue. The costumes in this show are stunning though.
I continue to enjoy Reborn Rich (Viki). It is twisty revenge fuelled fun with an fantastic performance from Lee Sung Min.
I adored Sniper Butterfly (Viki). This deceptively simple love story has powerful emotional/societal depth. The leads are beautifully compelling and the whole drama is very endearing with lots of heart.
I finished Pachinko season 2 (Apple) and had similar issues with its adaptation choices but felt that the structure and editing worked far better than in season 1. The cast was brilliant. It really feels all sorts of wrong that the story has been left unfinished.
