Our Beloved Summer (Netflix) is a gorgeous slice of life / second chance romance that explores the importance of context and communication in relationships.
Amid an impressive ensemble cast (with actual supportive kdrama parents… shock), the central love story is beautifully performed by Choi Woo Sik and Kim Da Mi.
On paper very little happens in this show. However, Our Beloved Summer has emotional depth and complexity to spare.
The drama does take its time to reveal its secrets. However, your patience is richly rewarded with powerful plot developments that help explain the inner motivations of many of the characters.
Drama endings are notoriously tricky. Many shows fail to “stick the landing”. Thankfully, the conclusion of Our Beloved Summer is both satisfying and heartfelt.
