After some pesky set up in episode one, Boyfriend On Demand (Netflix) was a lot of tropey, swoony fun (think Spike Jonze’s Her via Singles Inferno). Seriously, there were moments in episodes two and three that made me straight up cackle! The cameos and scenarios are everything. If you are a kdrama fan, you will feel so seen 😊 Episode four then took me by surprise and became my favourite part of the show (and not just because of Seo Kang Jun, but also, yes, absolutely because of Seo Kang...

It is hard to describe my thoughts about My Mister. If you are in any way unsure, believe the hype and go watch this show. Yes, My Mister is deeply melancholic and heart-breaking. Yes, the loss of Lee Sun Kyun is never less than devastating. However, this beautiful slice of life drama offers so much more than endless sadness – it is warm, funny and life affirming. Written by Park Hae Young (My Liberation Notes) and directed by Kim Won Suk (Signal, When Life Gives You Tangerines) and Kim Sang...

The King’s Affection took me by surprise. I came late to this 2021 Netflix drama and (somehow) managed to avoid all spoilers. All I knew – or thought I knew – was that this show was a gender swap, historical rom com. And it is… but also so much more. For full context, I came to The King’s Affection after (finally) watching / finishing My Mister. I was looking for something lighter. The first episodes of this drama were far from fluffy, however. The show’s opening episodes set the...

The Art of Sarah (Netflix) is an entertaining little mystery box of a drama that features a delicious performance from Shin Hae Sun. If we ever needed reminding what a powerful actor she is (and we probably didn’t), this is it. I had been eagerly awaiting The Art of Sarah and, while it didn’t quite live up to my expectations, I had a good time watching this eight-episode show. It features an impressive cast, looks good and explores some interesting themes. However, the plot and writing...

I was late to the Idol I (Netflix) party but, within minutes I was hooked and I loved this drama until the very end. I enjoyed the mystery, the examination of idol life and fan culture and I adored how the relationship between lawyer, Maeng Se Na (Choi Soo Young), and idol, Laik (Kim Jae Yeong), developed. Seriously, the chemistry between these two leads is pretty special. As I finished episode ten, I began to wonder (as I so often do) if Idol I would stick the landing. Perhaps I shouldn’t...

Can This Love Be Translated was one of my most anticipated shows of 2026. Honestly, we waited so long for this drama and, of course, for the return of Kim Seon Ho. I really wanted to love Can This Love Be Translated. However, I ended up with mixed feelings. Written by the Hong sisters (Alchemy of Souls, Hotel del Luna) and directed by Yoo Young Eun (Queen of Mystery), this 16 episode Netflix kdrama follows Cha Mu Hui (Go Youn Jung), an actor who receives overnight viral success, and Ju Ho Jin...

Signal (Netflix) has been on my watchlist since forever and it certainly did not disappoint. This 16 episode drama has quite the pedigree. It was written by Kim Eun Hee (Kingdom, Revenant), directed by Kim Won Suk (My Mister, When Life Gives You Tangerines) and stars Kim Hye Soo (my standout), Lee Je Hoon and Jo Jin Woong (alongside an impressive supporting cast). It is difficult to talk about this show without getting into spoilers but I think it is safe to describe Signal as a thriller / dual...

Shine On Me (Netflix) is a 36 episode cdrama written by Gu Man and Shen Fei Xian, directed by Chen Zhou Fei and starring Song Wei Long and Zhao Jin Mai. This show is part low angst, slow burn romance with a super smitten green flag of a ML and a smart and competent FL, and part exploration of the potential of solar panels. Can you guess which part I preferred? Yep, I was there for the main couple. Thank you Shine on Me for allowing us to bask in the glow of a non-toxic supportive relationship....

I mostly adored Dynamite Kiss (Netflix). Mostly. I eagerly awaited each new instalment and had the best time while watching most of the episodes in this show. Ahn Eun Jin and Jang Ki Yong were rom com perfection with chemistry to spare. Before the final two episodes were released, I wondered if this drama would “stick the landing” and, if it did not, would this matter? In the end, the answer was yes and no. Ultimately, the journey of Dynamite Kiss was more satisfying than the destination....

Extraordinary Attorney Woo is a much beloved kdrama… and for good reason. Featuring a hugely impressive central performance from Park Eun Bin, this is a show with heart to spare. This is also an example of a show that is working on several levels (as many kdramas often do). On one level, you have an endearing story of love and friendship with a cute personal / professional support squad and an adorable romance (I absolutely loved Kang Tae Oh's performance in this drama). On another level you...
