Better Late Than Single

At the start, Better Late Than Single (Netflix) felt like an addictive snack of a reality show. I confess that I became borderline obsessed while watching.

I liked the premise and loved both the participants and the mentors. Initially, the entire viewing experience felt very entertaining... the show made me laugh out loud and also almost moved me to tears.

However, before long, both emotional states began to feel troubling and, as the show went on, that feeling only grew stronger.

I thought that Better Late Than Single would help its participants to grow in confidence. However, sadly, this was not the case.

As the show progressed, Better Late Than Single felt increasingly exploitative and I became more concerned for the participants. I could not shake a sense of unease.

If this show returns for a second season, I truly hope that its creators consider a change in format.
