I ended up feeling rather mixed on Ms Incognito (Viki).
I was gripped at the start, lost interest in the middle and enjoyed the drama’s conclusion.
Jeon Yeo Been is incredible throughout, however.
The show’s first two episodes were so good… I was super intrigued. I loved Jeon Yeo Been’s portrayal of bodyguard, Kim Young Ran, and rooted for her immediately. I also appreciated Jang Yoon Ju’s delicious villain, Ga Sun Young.
However, when the drama moved to its village location (for reasons that I won’t spoil), I began to lose interest.
In this new setting, the show changed both its focus and tone. What initially felt like a twisty noir, transformed into something more like a romantic comedy.
Done well, I have no problem with tonal shifts. Unfortunately, the romance between Bu Se Mi and strawberry farmer, Jeon Dong Min (Jin Young) failed to catch fire. As a result, the questionable decisions made by both characters felt pretty patience testing.
I confess that I did consider dropping Miss Incognito. However, I am glad that stayed the course because the show’s final episodes were very entertaining and the drama's conclusion felt satisfying.
