Elevated by its lead performances, Would You Marry Me (Disney) is a cute, fun and ultimately forgettable drama.
Jung So Min and Choi Woo Sik could, of course, play these roles in their sleep and both give engaging and endearing performances.
Thanks to their work, the first half of this drama, with all its contract marriage / forced proximity goodness - is addictively entertaining.
Meanwhile, the show also develops an interesting and heartfelt storyline between its second leads, Yun Jin Gyeong played by Shin Seul Ki and Baek Sang Hyeon played by Bae Na Ra.
Yun Jin Gyeong’s narrative arc was a particular, and welcome, surprise.
Where the show falters, however, is in its corporate deception / political corruption side plots. We’ve seen all this before and done better.
As a result, the second half of Would You Marry Me felt far less compelling and petered out in a strangely dull finale.
I loved the pairing of Jung So Min and Choi Woo Sik throughout, however, and could have watched 16,000 episodes of them falling in love 😊
