Elevated by its lead performances, Would You Marry Me (Disney) is a cute, fun and ultimately forgettable drama. Jung So Min and Choi Woo Sik could, of course, play these roles in their sleep and both give engaging and endearing performances. Thanks to their work, the first half of this drama, with all its contract marriage / forced proximity goodness - is addictively entertaining. Meanwhile, the show also develops an interesting and heartfelt storyline between its second leads, Yun Jin Gyeong...
Tempest is a gripping political action/thriller with an incredible cast (lots of deliciously powerful women… and John Cho!). It is wonderful to see Jun Ji Hyun back. As compelling as ever, she has incredible chemistry with Gang Dong-Won who is brilliant as a mercenary turned bodyguard (love this trope). Add to that, high stakes and real-world significance and you can see why Tempest became a must watch drama. While it started far stronger than it ended, I very much enjoyed this show. In its...
Our Movie (Disney) appears, at first glance, to be about dying. However, this is a story about living – a quiet and deeply moving drama that encourages us to cherish each and every day. It is worth noting that this drama moves at a considered pace. I confess that I...
Finally finished Buried Hearts. Apart from Park Hyung Sik's charismatic and compelling performance, this show did not live up to the potential of its first episodes. Hong Hwa Yeon's initially complex and interesting FL was soon side-lined. Thereafter, a bunch of largely uninteresting men wrangled over money / a corporation that I did not ever care about. The show’s eye-rolling ending signalled a second season… I am not sure that I will be back.
