Set in the 1970s and based on true events, Good News (Netflix) follows a group of people who, after an airplane is hijacked, devise a covert rescue plan. Directed by Byun Sung Hyun and featuring an impressive cast, this darkly funny satire is very entertaining. The film is also (deliberately) uncomfortable to watch - particularly in the way it speaks to today's society and those that have been placed in power. A big recommend from me…

After Train To Busan, I'm seated for anything directed by Yeon Sang Ho. While not on the same level as Traub to Busan (but, really, what is?), his latest film, Revelations (Netflix), is an tense psychological horror/thriller with impressive performances. Revelations may not bring much that is new to the genre, but its themes have stayed with me - particularly its (very topical) exploration of the dangers of only seeing what you want to see. Side note: it was pretty unnerving to see Ryu Jun Yeo...

I watched Wonderland at the weekend and have found myself thinking about the film's themes all week... Film recommendation! I very much enjoyed Tune In For Love (Netflix). Jung Hae In and Kim Go Eun have chemistry for days and give powerful and quietly emotional performances. The film takes place over a number of years (expect some manageable angst and yearning), the passing of time marked by beautifully animated sequences. There's easily enough story here to fill a kdrama but Jung Ji Woo's film is an atmospheric, satisfying and heartfelt experience. Exploring universal themes of love, loss,...

Film recommendation! Midnight is an incredibly tense and propulsive horror/thriller. Jin Ki Joo plays a deaf woman targeted by Wi Ha Joon's scene stealing serial killer. Goodness Wi Ha Joon has such fantastic range doesn't he! He is brilliant in this role. As well as being a gripping thrill ride, Midnight also explores important societal issues relating to gender and deafness. Who are we most likely to pay attention to, who do we believe? Final note: the cardio in this film is insane. I would...
