Wonderland

I watched Wonderland at the weekend and have found myself thinking about the film's themes all week...

Featuring an impressive cast – including Park Bo Gum, Bae Suzy, Tang Wei, Choi Woo Shik and a lovely cameo appearance by Gong Yoo - Wonderland is a 2024 science fiction film about an AI platform that reconnects people with loved ones who are close to death or have passed away.

Never not troubling (particularly as the development of such technology doesn’t seem that far off), the platform seems at first to be intriguing and possibly even healing.

However, it doesn't take long for the moral, ethical and emotional cracks to show…

While the film didn’t quite live up to its potential (I couldn’t help but wonder if its themes would have been better served in a longer drama), Wonderland is a moving and thought-provoking watch.
